There are so many thoughts, emotions, and DETAILS that go into the planning process for a global commute across the world. It begins when you start counting down the days until you leave, when you realize the team only has 3 meetings left to get our ideas, schedules, and bags together…all the while knowing that it could all be turned upside down upon arrival. Preparing plans to execute a Vacation Bible School and a Community Day in a country that doesn’t keep the same value of time as we do is difficult. You see, Ugandans keep track of time through relationships. They value people and their “time” with them more than they value being punctual to church, school, or community events. Personally, I love this. It’s beautiful because they don’t idolize their schedules and the idea of busyness, they value people and pouring their lives into one another.
As the Uganda team prepares for our upcoming trip, will you pray with us? Pray that God will guide us in our steps, in our plans, and that ultimately HE would be glorified through the relationships built and the hearts that are encouraged. Pray that we He will hem us in, in our going out and coming home. Pray that He would constantly press on our hearts and minds that we are not there to deposit a Western worldview on the people we meet, but a Kingdom worldview; that we would pour our love out in the two weeks we are there and we could come home renewed and challenged to think differently and live intentionally.
We would love for you to keep up with us through these posts as we travel and build relationships across the globe. Thank you for your support and prayers and we hope that your eyes are opened as much as ours will be by the end of our trip.
